"A Key to our Future"

Our Mission

To provide a safe and nurturing environment, supported, connected and engaged families and community, giving children access to a diverse range of high quality learning experiences.

Nestled in the rural countryside 25km south east of Waipawa and in close proximity of 3  beautiful beaches is Omakere School.

Omakere School was first opened in 1912 with a roll of 12 students, today the school has a roll of 50 students. The school is well resourced with a great teacher/ student ratio, a heated swimming pool, tennis court, confidence course and a junior playground area all set within beautiful manicured grounds.

The school caters for students  from year 0 to year 8. We currently have three classrooms,a library, an administration block and a multi purpose room. The students of Omakere School have the opportunity of participating in a range of sporting activities, swimming, cross country, rugby, soccer, tennis, gymnastics and netball. They also take part in Ngati Whai, BP Technology Challenge, Bike Safety and Pet Day.

The staff and Board of Trustees are totally committed to making our school a safe and fun learning environment for the students and are proud of student achievements

Most of our students come from the local community  though some are from nearby towns and have chosen Omakere school as their preferred place to educate their children.
